From Our Founder

During my journey as a New Yorker for the past 15 years, I have been a new college graduate, a young professional, a graduate student, single, married, and now a mother of two. I’ve met a diverse and colorful group of people both professionally and personally. I understand how this city can feel exciting, overwhelming, lonely, and limitless– in the good ways and the bad. I also know that the drive and ambition that come from this city can also lead to burnout and a work-life imbalance.

I started CK NP Psychiatry to help people become the best versions of themselves in order to be resilient in the face of difficulty, cope effectively with stress and life transitions, and find appreciation and joy in their daily lives.

The coronavirus pandemic has challenged us all in so many ways, but has also highlighted our priorities and how we all yearn for a sense of connectedness. Witnessing clients become ill, suffer losses, experience isolation, and lose social support also made me realize I had missed the camaraderie of working in larger healthcare settings myself.

Can you think back to people who you just clicked with personally and professionally? Ten years ago, Haley and Melissa were two of my former colleagues who shared my standard of professionalism, are smart and incredibly personable. Whether you work with us individually or as a team, I know that your mental health care is in great hands.

Learning to actively empathize with a patient's experience is the most important gift a therapist can give a patient.
